Pelosi sends birthday zinger to Boehner
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is sending a birthday zinger Speaker John Boehner’s way. The Ohio Republican turned 65 on Monday.
The House Minority Leader used the bday milestone as an opportunity to needle her congressional colleague:
Happy 65th Birthday, @SpeakerBoehner! Welcome to Medicare and Social Security!
— Nancy Pelosi (@NancyPelosi) November 17, 2014
Democrats often accuse Republicans of trying to undermine Social Security and Medicare through budget cutting and privatization, while the GOP insists it’s trying to save the programs from unsustainable costs.
Some of Pelosi’s more than 540,000 Twitter were quick to respond to the birthday brouhaha:
Now this is #shade “@NancyPelosi: Happy 65th Birthday, @SpeakerBoehner! Welcome to Medicare and Social Security!”

Pelosi, 74, is a diehard dark chocolate fan and has been known to gift colleagues with chocolate confections on their birthdays. No word if she’s sending some dark chocolate Boehner’s way, in addition to her tweet.
Not be outdone, Boehner himself replied in the afternoon:
Thanks @NancyPelosi & @DWStweets. Hope you’ll work with us to save them from bankruptcy for future generations.
