Man’s obit: Don’t vote for Hillary
A North Carolina man’s obituary included a final wish: don’t vote for Hillary Clinton.
{mosads}Larry Upright died last week at 81.
“The family respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016,” Upright’s family wrote in his obituary. “R.I.P. Grandaddy.”
According to his family, Upright was a diehard Republican and had a passion for politics.
“We did it solely to do something nice and honorable for our dad,” Upright’s daughter, Jill McClain, told local station WSOC-TV, while describing what she said was a last-minute decision to include the line while writing her dad’s obituary at the funeral home.
The man’s son, Mike Upright, said, “He had nothing to do with it other than voicing his opinion time after time after time.”
“We know he’s up there giggling right now. Just laughing out loud,” Mike Upright added. “We did this for him.”
In addition to requesting that voters reject Clinton at the ballot box, the obituary suggested that in lieu of flowers, mourners donate money to charity.
