Michael Moore: Trump ‘absolutely’ winning the GOP nomination

Filmmaker Michael Moore has no doubt that Donald Trump will become the GOP’s 2016 presidential nominee.

“Donald Trump is absolutely going to be the Republican candidate for president of the United States,” he said, according to Business Insider.

{mosads}“It’s gone from being a joke to becoming a serious reality,” Moore added. “Also, I think people are feeling more and more that we’ve moved back into a darker time.”

Moore then admitted that he is concerned about rallying the Democratic voter turnout necessary to defeat Trump next year.

“His numbers are high because they are polling Republican voters, or likely Republican voters, in the primary,” he said.

“But when they poll him against [Democratic presidential front-runner] Hillary Clinton or [Bernie] Sanders, he still does quite well,” Moore continued.

“I think that’s in part because my side of the political fence is the slacker side of the fence. The difference is his side always shows up to vote. My side, not so much.”

Moore additionally suggested he favors Sanders’s chances over Clinton’s during the 2016 Democratic presidential primary.

“My biggest concern about Hillary right now is her lack of inspiration,” the director said. “She doesn’t get big crowds. There’s not a lot of excitement about her.

“Too many young people see her as the same-old, same-old politics,” Moore continued. “She is going to have to have a bit of what [President] Obama had and a bit of what Bernie has if she’s going to be the candidate.

“I honestly believe that Bernie Sanders can be elected president of the United States. I think people will pour out in droves to elect him and there’s just not enough angry white guys anymore over the age of 35 to put Trump in office.”

Moore has repeatedly criticized Trump since the billionaire formally launched his campaign last June.

The “Fahrenheit 9/11” auteur most recently launched a social media campaign against Trump’s proposed temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S.
