Ivanka: Trump ‘100 percent believes in equality of gender’
Ivanka Trump has no doubts that her father Donald Trump supports full equality between men and women.
“He 100 percent believes in equality of gender,” she said of the GOP presidential front-runner, according to Town and Country. “Socially, economically and politically.”
{mosads}“I think he’s one of the great advocates for women, and he has been a great example to me my whole life. [He has] confidence in women to do any job that a man can do, and my whole life has been proof of that.”
Ivanka Trump argued that her role in her father’s company offers evidence that he favors personal talent over gender.
“If he didn’t feel that women were as competent as men, I would be relegated to some role subordinate to my brothers,” said Ivanka Trump, the Trump Organization’s vice president of development and acquisition.
“I think that is one of his great strengths: He fully prioritizes merit and accomplishment and skill and ability over background, education and gender,” she continued.
“This company, over four decades, has always had women in its highest ranks,” Ivanka Trump added, citing her mother Ivana Trump’s former role as its vice president of interior design.
“It’s easy to look around today and say there are a lot of woman in a lot of companies. It was less easy when my mother was an executive here and she was surrounded by women who worked at the highest level of this organization.”
Ivanka Trump refused comment on whether her famous parent describes himself as a “feminist,” however.
“You’d have to ask him that,” she said, before noting that he “absolutely” is in her view.
Donald Trump is currently feuding with Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton over the role of gender on the 2016 campaign trail.
He has repeatedly criticized her for playing “the woman card” while she accused the billionaire of a “penchant for sexism” last week.
