Behind the scenes on Day 2 of the Republican convention

CLEVELAND — Plenty of eyes are fixed on what’s happening onstage at the Republican National Convention, but ITK’s on the prowl behind the scenes, too. Here are a few of our favorite Tuesday tidbits straight from Cleveland and beyond the camera lens.

Talk about political odd couples — former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) and former Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) sharing a laugh in Cleveland’s convention center as they joked with one another about the expansiveness of the event space. “Do we have to travel in pairs now?” Huckabee laughed to his fellow former presidential candidate as he sat on a bench. “Has it come to that?”

—  Rachel Campos-Duffy giving her newborn a taste of his very first convention. The wife of Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) — who mentioned during her Monday night convention speech that she gave birth to the couple’s eighth child just eight weeks ago — was eyed strolling through the media center in a bright pink dress with her new bundle of joy in tow. The tiny tot, Patrick Miguel, was attached to Campos-Duffy in a baby carrier.

—  Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) checking out a mini-version of the Oval Office outside Quicken Loans Arena during a Glamour magazine and Facebook-hosted mingling session. The lawmaker joked to an aide that snapping a photo in the diminutive digs “might make me feel tall for once.”
