Author: DC a ‘target-rich environment’ for writers

Lawson says the political figure in his book is “loosely based” on late House Speaker Tip O’Neill (D-Mass.) — minus the whole corruption thing. “That’s the only character in it that’s actually semi-based in real-life,” the scribe says. “There’s no intention to cast any kind of aspersions upon him.”

The writer adds, “My books aren’t political in the sense that I’m trying to persuade anybody of a political persuasion.”

{mosads}So does Lawson really think Congress is as scandal-plagued as the place he portrays in his books?

He laughs and replies, “I guess yes and no … Now do I really believe that every congressman back there is on the take? No, I don’t believe that.”
