Pie time for Obama

{mosads}“I hear you got the best pie,” the president told the restaurant’s owner, Dave Scarpetta, as he made his way to the bakery case at Bingham’s Family Restaurant accompanied by Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), according to a White House press pool report.

“Do you know your senator, Bob Casey? He loves pie,” Obama exclaimed.

When asked by Obama which pie he was “particularly proud of,” Scarpetta pointed the commander in chief to the coconut cream pie.

“Here’s what we’re going to do,” said Obama, “One coconut cream pie. I think we should get one cherry pie. This is just my order — I don’t know about you,” he said to Casey.

“And I think we should get a pecan pie,” he added.

After chatting with the president, Scarpetta told reporters there was a secret to directing Obama to the coconut cream pie, revealing someone disclosed the West Wing resident was partial to that particular pie: “I think that’s his favorite. I got the inside scoop.”

No word on if Obama actually indulged in all three types of pies — he was seen leaving the restaurant on his way to Scranton, Pa., for his bus tour on college affordability with just “a pie box in hand.”
