Pink Floyd singer: Trump’s wall ‘a ridiculous idea’
“The Wall” is one of Pink Floyd’s most successful albums, but band co-founder Roger Waters is no fan of President Trump’s proposed signature border wall.
“He’s been confronted with it now, because obviously he’s not going to be able to build anything, because it’s too f–king expensive, and the people won’t wear it. It’s a really stupid idea,” Waters tells Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Tuesday.
“Everybody who lives anywhere near the border knows it is. It’s clearly a ridiculous idea,” the British rocker, 73, said.
Trump’s 2018 budget plan sets aside $1.6 billion for “brick and mortar” costs for a border wall between the United States and Mexico, something he’s promised since the earlier days of his campaign.

“And if you look at the demographics of the citizens of the United States, there’s going to be a Latino majority tomorrow, whatever you f–king do. You can’t stop it by building a wall,” Waters said.
“You can’t build walls anywhere, it’s ridiculous. The whole concept is a complete non-starter, except as an exercise in control — not of the border, of your electorate,” he continued. “Keep people dumb, uneducated, whatever, so you can go on milking them.”
Waters said his upcoming album, “Is This the Life We Really Want?” reflects living in a “Trump era,” telling the magazine, “It’s not just Trump. It’s all over, everywhere. It’s Brexit and [former French presidential candidate Marine] Le Pen. It’s, ‘Let’s all lie about Syria, whoever we are.’”
“’Let’s just make up any narrative that we want and say it’s true,’” Waters added. “It’s like truth is now a completely alien concept. It’s not what is — it’s what you believe, or what you can persuade people.”
Waters told Rolling Stone earlier this year that his upcoming North American tour would be an “exercise in resistance, not just to Trump, but to all the despots, dictators, thieves, and ne’er-do-wells all over the world.”
