Kathy Griffin announces Carnegie Hall show sold out in a day
Comedian Kathy Griffin said Saturday that her upcoming show at New York’s Carnegie Hall sold out in just a day.
Griffin is resuming touring just under a year after sparking national backlash for posing for a photo with a bloody, decapitated fake head resembling President Trump.
The comedian tweeted Saturday that she is “grateful” for her fans’ support after she was forced to stop touring in the U.S. after posing for the photo.

“I just found out that my Carnegie Hall show sold out in a day. I’m in shock. For most of the past year I was convinced that my career was over…I have felt moments of despair that I can’t describe in a tweet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart…I am so grateful,” she wrote.

The comedian had announced during an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” earlier this month that she was beginning to look for touring gigs again.
During the appearance, she accused the Trump family of trying to ruin her career. Trump himself tweeted last year that Griffin should be “ashamed” of herself for posting the photo.
“I’m dipping my toes into touring again even though the Trumps and nobody wants me to work again,” she said.
Griffin was fired from her position as co-host of CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage and lost multiple comedy gigs as a result of backlash from the photo. She was also interviewed by the Secret Service due to the violent nature of the photograph.
“I am no longer sorry,” Griffin said in August. “The whole outrage was B.S., the whole thing got so blown out of proportion and I lost everybody.”
