Mark Hamill says Darth Vader better than Trump: ‘He saw the error of his ways’

Actor Mark Hamill, best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars,” says the franchise’s iconic villain Darth Vader is not as bad as real-life figures including President Trump and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The left-leaning actor said Vader differed from modern-day Republicans because he eventually repented for his deeds.

{mosads}“Listen, I really get upset then when people compare [Trump] or even Dick Cheney to Darth Vader because Darth Vader repented,” Hamill said on a podcast Tuesday hosted by The Washington Post. “He saw the error of his ways. I don’t see either one of them doing that.”

Cheney faced comparisons to Vader from critics during the Iraq War.

Hamill frequently attacks President Trump and his administration on Twitter, including over the special counsel investigation into Russia’s election interference, as well as policy issues such as immigration reform.

Last month, the actor posted a mock advertisement for “Trump tear gas” on his Twitter account following viral images of migrants fleeing from tear gas fired by Customs and Border Protection agents at the border.

Hamill reprised his role as Luke Skywalker in “The Last Jedi,” released last year.
