Wikipedia page for ‘Home Alone 2’ was edited to call Trump the film’s first cast member to be impeached
The Wikipedia page for “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” was briefly altered earlier this week to note the impeachment of President Trump, who made a cameo in the 1992 film.
According the page’s revision history, an edit was added toward the top of the page on Friday, reading: “On December 18th, 2019 Donald Trump became the first cast member from Home Alone 2 to be impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives.”
The edit did not go unnoticed on social media.

Someone edited Home Alone 2’s Wikipedia page to note that @realDonaldTrump was its first cast member to be impeached. That apparently started an edit war. The change has been removed and the page is now locked for “persistent vandalism.” pic.twitter.com/APebDZGKFi

Wikipedia did not immediately responded to a request for comment from The Hill about actions it took in response to the edit.
However, as of Sunday morning, the edit has been removed and the page was locked for “extended confirmed protection,” which requires editors to sign off on changes.
The edit came days after the House voted to impeach Trump for abuse of power of obstruction of Congress. He is the third president in U.S. history to be impeached.
{mosads}Prior to his entrance into politics Trump had made several cameos in films as a celebrity real-estate mogul. He appeared in Home Alone 2 briefly to give directions to the film’s main character, Kevin McCallister, in the Plaza Hotel, which at the time was owned by Trump.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, Matt Damon said Trump would allow films to be shot in his buildings as long as he got a part in the project.
“The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part. [Director] Martin Brest had to write something in Scent of a Woman — and the whole crew was in on it,” he said.
“You have to waste an hour of your day with a bullshit shot: Donald Trump walks in and Al Pacino’s like, ‘Hello, Mr. Trump!’ — you had to call him by name — and then he exits,” he added. “You waste a little time so that you can get the permit, and then you can cut the scene out. But I guess in Home Alone 2 they left it in.”
