Hillary Clinton trolls Comey over ‘elect more women’ tweet
Hillary Clinton on Tuesday mocked former FBI Director James Comey after he posted a picture of himself wearing a shirt bearing the message “elect more women.”
In a tweet, Clinton reacted with a GIF of herself sitting and looking bemused during an interview with actor Zach Galifianakis on his mock talk show, “Between Two Ferns.” Clinton appeared on the show during her 2016 run for president, which ended in defeat to President Trump shortly after Comey made a controversial decision to reopen an investigation into her use of a private email server while working at the State Department.

Critics of Comey’s tenure as FBI director, including Clinton herself, have attributed her loss in part to his decision to reopen that investigation. The FBI ultimately declined to recommend that Clinton be criminally charged.
Comey’s post came in response to the 100th anniversary of the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment, which guarantees a woman’s right to vote.
“#19thAmendment is an important anniversary but the vote is not enough. We need more women in office. VP and Virginia governor are good next steps,” he tweeted. He also shared the image on Instagram.
His remarks appeared to refer to Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-Calif.) selection as former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate in 2020 as well as the declared candidacy of state Sen. Amanda Chase (R) for the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election.
