Report: Chris Brown accused of hitting a woman
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said Tuesday that a woman has accused R&B singer Chris Brown, who has faced multiple past allegations of abuse and assault, of hitting her, multiple news outlets reported.
An LAPD spokesperson told The Hill that they responded to a call of argument in the city’s San Fernando Valley area on Friday morning. A woman allegedly told officers at the scene that she and a suspect, whom police did not name, argued before he struck her.
Celebrity news outlet TMZ reported that the woman claimed Brown struck her hard enough to cause her weave to come out.
LAPD said that the suspect wasn’t present at the scene when they arrived. Police added that they are investigating the incident as a battery and that it will be referred to Los Angeles Attorney’s Office.
The Grammy-winning artist has been at the center of multiple legal troubles involving physical altercations with women over the past decade.
Brown, 32, was arrested in 2009 after assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. He pleaded guilty to felony assault and completed probation in 2015, according to NBC News.
An ex-girlfriend of Brown’s, model-actress Karrueche Tran, was granted a five-year restraining order against him in 2017.
And in 2019, Brown was accused of committing rape in Paris.
The Hill has reached out to RCA Records for comment.
Brown’s attorney did not respond to NBC News’s request for comment.
