Massachusetts Senate machinations
Healthcare is critically important to our nation. I support it completely and believe with all my being that this bill should pass, and pass soon. But to argue that failing to seat a duly elected senator because you know how he will vote on the bill is a travesty — especially after arguing that Massachusetts needed representation in the Senate upon the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy (D).
I’m sorry, but that kind of talk is not only unhelpful to the Democratic candidate, Martha Coakley, but it would generate a backlash across the nation that would not soon subside. It would truly be a circular firing squad for the Democrats nationally for months to come.
