A bridge too far
I have to laugh. I know Republicans did some dumb things when they were in power, but the president just doesn’t get this issue. White House actions today are akin to having a bridge that will only support a certain amount of weight when you’ve already determined the truck you want to send across this bridge is well over capacity. Staring the certain calamity that will follow, should you move this truck across the bridge, you decide instead to paint a new sign on this vehicle in order to disguise its true identity. Obviously, you’ve done nothing to correct the problem — only to obscure yourself (and others) from the outcome. The Democratic Party is in the flatbed of that analogous truck, and its members must be extraordinarily gullible to believe the president now has a better and less dangerous situation on his hands.
I’m not sure what’s more foolish — the president’s political stubbornness to keep forging ahead on a political suicide mission or the White House’s incomprehensible ability to ignore the will of the people. The cacophony of their opposition is deafening. Republicans aren’t fomenting that public anger. Let’s not give them too much credit. This is real, folks! And whether they send a message today or on Election Day, trust me, a message is coming. It’s up to the president to decide when he wants to heed such words.
Mr. President, how many Democratic seats will you place in jeopardy before you back off this cliff? How many congressional seats are worth losing to appease Big Labor and your leftist friends? That is where your endgame is quickly moving. This topic has become more and more a storyline of how many seats your party will sacrifice come November, and less a storyline that you wanted — a legacy piece for you. You would be wise to step back, for healthcare is a bridge too far …
