Update to Issa-Leaks

It didn’t take long for House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa
(R-Calif.) to determine that his staff acted inappropriately in sharing
the content of e-mail communications between members of the media and
his office with another reporter working on a book. The staffer has been
dismissed. But questions remain.
 
Issa issued a statement after he fired his staffer, someone he once called “my secret weapon.”
 
“Though limited, these actions were highly inappropriate, a basic breach
of trust with the reporters it was his job to assist, and inconsistent
with established communications office policies. As a consequence, his
employment has been terminated,” said Issa’s statement.
 
What remains for the media to determine is the definition of “limited.” How many e-mails were shared? What was the content? When will Issa disclose the content of all the e-mails, those leaked already and all the e-mails between his staff and the reporter in question?
 
Wouldn’t full disclosure be the standard Issa would demand of the administration? Didn’t the new Republican majority pledge to be the most transparent majority in history? Issa should disclose the contents of all the e-mails that were inappropriately handled by his office. Until he does so, questions will remain and his integrity will be diminished.
