I nominate this past week as the weirdest week of the year. Consider that:
1) the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan budget.
2) President Obama and numerous other former presidents and world leaders were paired with a violent, unstable man pretending to sign language for hours at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela.
{mosads}3) The president of the United States was ensnared in an unseemly “selfie” mishap at a memorial service — for Nelson Mandela.
4) The president of the United States is the proud author of Politifact’s “Lie of the Year” for his promise “If you like your plan, you can keep it.”
5) Ezra Klein of The Washington Post wants to know “why anyone hasn’t been fired” over HealthCare.gov.
6) North Korean authorities boasted to the world Thursday they had executed Kim Jong Un’s uncle for being a traitor.
7) Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) officially lost his Dream Candidate status among the GOP establishment.
8) “Affluenza” is now a legal excuse for driving drunk and taking four lives, because when wealthy parents don’t set limits, apparently their children get out of going to jail.
Please let me know if there was a stranger week in 2013. And what did I leave out? And let’s hope neither of the two remaining weeks this year top this one.
