The Nightmare is Over

Today Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), accepting Barack Obama’s White House chief of staff position, was greeted by jeers and attacks by what’s left of the Republicans. John Boehner, House minority leader, attacked Emanuel, calling him radical, and warned Obama that he must govern from the center.

No, no, no. We don’t have to listen to you anymore. You have been completely discredited. The Republican Party should have no political capital anymore. We have seen the results of trickle-down economics. Our country is in a shambles. We are in massive debt, our infrastructure is in the crapper, our young people can’t get educations, we are fighting two wars that look more like occupations and Americans can only pray we don’t get sick. And that’s just the stuff gleaming off the top.

Do you honestly think that we will listen to you anymore? Not for a long time, I hope — at least for a couple generations. You busters are done. The center is going to move. Currently the center is on the right. Hell, Bill Clinton was more conservative than Richard Nixon! Yet he had neoconservatives (super far-right) frothing at the mouth every moment he was in power. No longer.

Now the center can move back to, well, the center. The far-right is no longer there in large numbers. Those who didn’t get thrown out for being corrupt have been thrown out by American voters this last Tuesday. And good riddance. The tactics of fear and the politics of selfishness and ignorance are finally coming to an end.

I’m pretty psyched!
