The Republicans Should Just ‘MoveOn’

Why is it that the Democrats should be on the defensive for the MoveOn “Betray Us” ad?

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has actually introduced a Senate Resolution condemning MoveOn and trying to press a Senate vote. Boy, that’s a smart use of the greatest deliberative body’s time!

Could it be a political hatchet job against the Democrats?

Funny, I don’t recall the good senator from Texas standing up and condemning the Swift Boat ads that wanted to deny John Kerry his Silver Star. Was there a Senate resolution on that?

Why not debate the merits of the war, the “withdrawal” strategy (or lack thereof), the plans to reach a political settlement? Why not focus on the thousands that are dying and coming home severely injured? Why not discuss how long this war is going to continue and what the expectations are from this administration?

Why not have a vote on a resolution that requires President Bush to get congressional approval before any attack on Iran?

Instead, Sen. Cornyn and his “talking point” crowd from Fox News/Republican National Committee Central on down would rather attack than answer for this war. Divert attention. Make this a political attack.

Yes, it really is time to MoveOn.
