Roger Ailes says farewell to Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio says hello to immigration reform, Hillary Clinton says farewell for now

For now Ailes, in what may or may not be a hint of coming attractions at
Fox News, has said farewell to Sarah Palin. Torches are being passed
all over. As Palin fades from Fox, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) aspires to
lead the conservative base toward more humane and creative policies,
beginning with immigration. Kudos to Rubio. Meanwhile, Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton passes the torch at the State Department to Sen.
John Kerry (D-Mass.), whose experience will make him an outstanding
secretary. Speaking of passing the torch, how about President Obama
sharing a “60 Minutes” interview with Secretary Clinton?

The Palin farewell from Fox and the Rubio hello to more humane conservativism are big news, taken together. Palin represents the know-nothing wing of Republicanism, while Rubio is one voice that could define the future of Republicanism. However, Sarah Palin should not be underestimated. Will she lead a backlash against immigration reform from the right? Will she join protests at town meetings against moderate Republicans on immigration? Or will she follow Rubio’s lead?

{mosads}Give Marco Rubio credit. It takes courage and wisdom for Rubio to do what he is doing on immigration. How strong will the backlash be? Is Rubio tough enough to withstand it? Time will tell and the stakes are enormous for Rubio, Republicans and the nation.

When was the last time anyone saw Barack Obama graciously invite anyone to share the glory with him? Once again, Hillary breaks a ceiling! Democrats love it. Hillary Clinton is more than the front-runner if she runs in 2016. She is the presumptive nominee for the Democrats, and with her popularity so high, the sky is the limit for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Which brings me back to Roger Ailes. While Ailes is sticking with Dick Morris, who will thrill the nation with endless predictions of spectacular humongous gigantic Republican landslides that will lead to GOP domination of the Milky Way galaxy, Ailes’s divorce from Sarah Palin is not without significance.
