The RNC Pelosi Ad

Gee, guys — thanks a lot.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) ad depicting Nancy Pelosi as Bond girl “Pussy Galore” set party efforts back a few years. Such silliness about such a serious matter on the part of a few of the boys over at the RNC casts a pall over all of us. The actions of a few are now considered to represent the entire party.

While reports are coming through the media noise that RNC Chairman Michael Steele seems to be making inroads into repairing the damage from his earlier gaffes, this ad controversy gives me pause for concern. Are there too many “good old boys” working at the RNC? Does Steele need to take a stroll throughout the building and see if his staff represents the party and the changes and progress made over the past 15 years? Is he getting the best advice possible from the most qualified, thoughtful and experienced people available to him?

This latest gaffe not only misses the point of how critical Nancy Pelosi’s lies and false allegations against the CIA really are, but illustrates, to me, anyway, that the Republican National Committee has a long way to go before they are doing even adequate work on behalf of the Republican Party. The vast majority of RNC members, elected officials and rank-and-file Republican voters are not represented by this ridiculous and insulting ad that fails to address the seriousness of Pelosi’s actions.

Grow up, guys.
