OPINION: Ron Paul’s super-money-bomb bid
Once Ron Paul makes it official that he is serious about running for
president, I expect him to launch a super-money-bomb campaign that will
raise a ton of money from small donors.
I do not believe Ron Paul can be nominated, but I do believe he will be a
far more serious candidate than the pundit class expects, and in a weak
and divided Republican field, he could emerge as an issue-maker and
potentially a kingmaker. Dr. Paul could easily come in third or fourth
in the Republican field, and if the nomination battle is close, his
delegates could be decisive in choosing the nominee.
My take is: Donald Trump, the class clown of the Republican field, has gotten far too much attention, and Ron Paul far too little. I continue to believe that Trump will never run a full presidential campaign. He will not want to file formal financial disclosures and I expect financial information about Trump to leak that will kiss his campaign bye-bye before it begins.
Ron Paul, on the other hand, will do well in some early straw polls and local caucus activity. His views on issues will receive increasing prominence because the media will be forced to deal with him, and he will excel in Republican debates.
And remember where you heard it: Even the barons of cable political news will have to take seriously what I predict will be a huge take of money in the Ron Paul money-bomb campaigns that are coming soon.
