GOP suicide bombers
Now we learn, via The Washington Post today, that a Republican
political suicide bomber working for one GOP presidential candidate is
aggressively dishing dirt attacking the marriage of one of the strongest
and most qualified potential Republican candidates for president,
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.
Meanwhile, stories galore discuss the adulterous history of
another Republican candidate, the ubiquitous Newt Gingrich, who battled
to impeach President Bill Clinton on grounds of an
adulterous relationship with a woman on his staff, while Gingrich was
having an adulterous relationship with a woman on his staff.
Not to be outdone, there are hands of Republican dirt quietly suggesting that the Mormon faith of two other highly qualified and potentially strong Republican candidates, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, impedes their prospects for being elected.
Regarding the religious issue, I do not believe the faith of Messrs. Romney or Huntsman should be, or will be, even a minor issue. Personally I believe their faith, even though I am of a different faith, is an asset for them. Politically it is a non-issue that only a tiny handful of voters care about, and will not have any impact on the election.
As a Democrat, it is refreshing to watch the slimeballs of Republican politics dishing their slime toward each other. Remember when they attacked a Democratic war hero, John Kerry, and remember also how they attacked a Republican war hero, John McCain (whom I aggressively defended against these attacks during the South Carolina Republican primary in 2008).
Regarding the wives of potential candidates, let’s keep the wives out of this, OK? Even the most partisan slimeball Republican oppos should have the minimal dignity not to attack the wives (or faith) of other Republicans.
While President Obama was killing Osama bin Laden, Donald Trump, another favorite of the GOP political suicide bombers, was further demeaning the Republican brand by waving the bloody shirt of the president’s birth certificate and school grades.
These Republican suicide bombers are determined to lose a landslide to President Obama and restore Democratic control of the House. Show me a potentially strong Republican presidential nominee, and I will show you a Republican oppo suicide bomber attacking his family or faith to destroy him politically.
Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman and Mitch Daniels are all very credible candidates, very qualified to be president, and very electable, but the GOP suicide bombers want to destroy them.
I guess that’s the best the GOP has to offer when they are working overtime defending to the death oil-company tax breaks and trying to destroy Medicare, one of the most popular programs in American political history and one of the most popular programs today.
Many Republicans seem intent on joining the GOP political suicide bomber caucus.
While the GOP offers the weakest presidential field in memory, its suicide bombers work to destroy their strongest candidates, while Democrats in Congress defend Medicare and battle oil companies and President Obama defends America and kills terrorists.
