America must reject Mitt Romney’s European austerity and Ron Paul’s Austrian economics
In my column today
I deplore the GOP war against jobs. Watching Mitt Romney in Ohio today,
when he talked about American jobs, he was really advocating European
austerity. Mitt Romney could be Nicolas Sarkozy, recently defeated in
France, or David Cameron in Britain, or Angela Merkel in Germany. They
advocate the austerity that is driving Europe into recession. Romney
would do this here. Meanwhile, the global warming denial and birther
wings of Republicans are acting like the National Front parties in
Europe with a far right politics of anger and denial. When I heard
Romney talk about Europe today, it all became clear.
According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans feel that the policies of George W. Bush are far more responsible for our economic crisis than are the policies of Barack Obama. People should feel this. They do.
{mosads}The European austerity policies are an economic disaster. As George W. Bush’s policies were. As Mitt Romney’s policies would be. Romney would be well-advised to stop advocating European-style austerity policies. Americans would be well-advised to keep Romney far from the levers of power in the Oval Office. America does not need Ron Paul’s Austrian economics that opposes government efforts to create jobs, or Mitt Romney’s Euro-style austerity that will destroy more jobs.
