Ted Cruz bloviates about ‘liberal fascism’

Henry Clay, one of the great Speakers in the history of the House of Representatives, was often called the Great Compromiser. I now dub Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — after his fabrication that Democrats persecute Christians, which makes them “liberal fascists” — the Great Bloviator.

Where does Cruz get his material? And where do Republicans find guys like him?

The Great Bloviator is obviously wrong, which gives me the opportunity to again write about the man whom I believe is the greatest and most profound human being on the face of the earth in our times: Pope Francis.

Cruz, like many of his GOP brethren, is a fervent believer in what the pope calls trickle-down economics. Personally, in my politics and faith, I think the pope is right and the Great Bloviator is wrong.

Cruz is a champion of the pollution of the environment that causes climate change, while the pope has recently increased his efforts to support those who combat climate change.

{mosads}Cruz is a champion of the deregulation that contributed mightily to the latest financial crash and Great Recession, while the pope has called for greater regulation of financial markets.

Cruz opposes immigration reform, while pope is one of the world’s great champions of fair laws and treatment of immigrants.

Now Cruz, who would do well to read the teachings of Francis, and would do well to reduce his bloviating tendencies and put his “liberal fascist” delusions in the dustbin, where they belong.

Perhaps Cruz confuses Jesus Christ with Ayn Rand.

Don’t get me wrong. I do not accuse Ted Cruz of being a conservative fascist.

Like Pope Francis, I will pray for him.
