Hillary: No Grace, No Class, No Deal, No VP
On Tuesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton continued her efforts to do anything possible to elect John McCain.
Her performance was so devoid of grace and class there are not even words to describe it. It was one of the most self-indulgent and inappropriate performances in the history of presidential politics.
Today I talked to several very high-ranking Democrats, all of whom found this performance shameful and pathetic. She hurt herself far more than she realizes. The inconvenience to the far more gracious Obama will pass. The further deterioration of sentiment towards Clinton among many who matter to her future will last.
The notion of Hillary as VP has always been a figment of the cable news imagination from people who do not know what is actually going on. It will not happen. There is no need to list the litany of reasons, which are many.
Hillary’s was a performance for the ages — a moment of history, one in which she chose to remain on the low and self-indulgent road, giving new meaning to the term “bad loser.”
