Lucky Obama
What a week — turns out Barack Obama has the luck of the Irish after all. Despite the fallout from the Rev. Jeremiah Wright story, he ended the week with the endorsement of New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and the passport file breach. It was practically Christmas in March.
Sure, someone rummaged through the passport files of John McCain and Hillary Rodham Clinton as well, which kind of ruins the fun. Obama didn’t want to share that story. But he still got to be the first to call for an investigation and he knows that nothing — absolutely nothing — excites Democratic voters like injustices perpetrated by the Bush administration.
Clinton had a great roll recently, the polls began tilting her way starting on the 1st of March, she won Texas and Ohio and Obama hasn’t had a good news cycle until today. But the release of her records as first lady only mean more questions about redacted names at photo shoots with people like Johnny Chung and her campaign manager Maggie Williams accepting a $50,000 check from him at the White House. Unseemly, unpresidential — you get the picture.
Before those tax records come out, Clinton needs to keep looking for a subject-changer. Obama knows sometimes you have to wait weeks for one.
