Hillary Can’t Overplay New Hampshire
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) is swooping into New Hampshire as I write this, planning a press conference on Friday night and meetings with the families and the hostages on Saturday.
So far, it is a graceful and appropriate response to the events of the day. But if she lingers on the topic, people will see through it and there will be a huge backlash against her.
Deftness has never been Hillary’s forte. She tends to overplay her hand at times like this and, with her lead in New Hampshire slipping away (the latest Fox News poll has her losing 20 points and now puts her only six ahead of Obama and 13 ahead of Edwards), any pandering will backfire big time.
