Obama, Gore and More: The Progressive Grass Roots Are Exploding With People and Cash!
The great class of Washington insiders, pundits and commentators are shocked! Predicting yesterday’s news as usual, they are astounded and amazed by Obama’s cash hoard and the people power behind his campaign.
The new power players in American politics are “we the people.” In Frank Capra’s great film they were the John Does and Jane Does. Among the intelligensia of the pundit class they are maligned as “lefty bloggers,” “the anti-war left” or “the rage vote.”
What total baloney. They are, we are, “we the people.”
If you missed it, check out my recent op-ed in The Hill newspaper, “New Politics, New Media, New Majority,” in which I predicted a tidal wave of grassroots money through the Internet and small donations that would transform American politics.
What is happening is powerful and profound, the birth of a new political realignment that is progressive, populist and patriotic. It will sweep aside the deadwood of the insiders and the dead thinking of the commentator class. It will continue to astound and amaze those who appear on the same shows, go to the same lunches, parrot the same nonsense and miss what is happening throughout the real America.
I predict:
The powerful surge of average Americans giving to Democrats over Republicans, and
to progressives over conservatives, will only escalate.
Obama will continue to raise historic money as his army of small donors remains on the
march. By fall Hillary will have her own surprise in small donations from women, and the tidal wave of John and Jane Does will reach a wider swath of Democrats.
Democrats will have a widening lead among the presidential candidates and candidates
for the House and Senate.
This growing power of average Americans will include volunteers as well as money and will escalate straight through November 2008.
The pundits crack me up. They now parade to the cable shows and the insider lunches
saying Obama must be more like Hillary. What on earth are they eating at those insider lunches? The truth is, Hillary needs to be more like Obama, and both need to be more like Gore.
Meanwhile, the potential Babe Ruth of the grassroots revolution, Al Gore, prepares for
his nine-city, seven-continent, 2 million-person global warning concert.
If Gore runs for president, he will also astound and amaze the insider classes. If he supports another Democrat instead, the cavalry will arrive with an even more unprecedented surge of money and people for the change.
The power structure does not get it, but the power structure does not matter.
Ladies and gentlemen, change is coming.
