The beginning of the end

It’s funny, I woke up this morning with the thought of Armageddon and
spent a while mentally composing my last memo to God — just in case. If
the Mayans are wrong, I’ll remain here to fight the cause of values and
virtues that built this once-great nation. If they are right … then vaya
con dios, to all my friends.

Well, Dec. 21, 2012 continues and
we’re still here, for now. However, the seeds are in place for the
destruction of our society and our world as we know it today. The United
States of America is the most powerful nation that the world has ever
known and its military overthrow would be nearly impossible. It can,
however, be destroyed financially, and morally.

{mosads}In 1831 Alexis de Tocqueville came to America to study the reasons behind our greatness. The Europeans couldn’t understand how a fledgling nation barely 50 years old could compete with them on every imaginable level. In his in-depth study he was impressed by our fiscal responsibility, but was more impressed by the fact that we taught morals and values in our public schools. He concluded a long study by saying, “America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good she will cease to be great.”

The seeds of America ceasing to be good and fiscally responsible as well as morally upright have admittedly been sown. When the financial bases of the USA is destroyed, the rest of the world will follow like dominoes and chaos will reign supreme.

Maybe this is what the Mayans predicted. The question that remains is whether our destruction is inevitable, or can logic prevail? It is becoming difficult to remain optimistic given the lack of leadership emanating from Washington, D.C. With ideologues running amok and reason thought absent, we can only hope and pray that logical thought will make an appearance before the end.
