Lawmakers embrace Small Business Saturday

Dozens of lawmakers went Small Business Saturday shopping and tweeted about their trips during the process.

The day is geared towards locally-owned enterprises, in contrast to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) visited at least six small business in New Hampshire and tweeted a picture at each one.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) actually got behind the counter at one homemade ice cream shop.

Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) visited his local printing shop.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) went shopping for Rep. Tammy Duckworth’s new baby Abigail.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) visited his local coffee shop.

Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hii.) stopped by her local pastry shop.

Like President Obama, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) visited his local bookstore.

U.S. Small Business Administrator Maria Contreras Sweet also celebrated the day, visiting shops in D.C. and Virginia.
