A: Apparently you haven’t read my tweets. I hope you don’t think I’m paying someone to write this stuff!

Q: When did you join Twitter?
 
A: I started tweeting to publicize my former businesses of auctions and real estate. Once I started running for office, I kept the same handle and just switched into campaign mode.  

Q: What do you see as the most significant purpose of Twitter for you?
 
A: It’s a great way to stay informed of breaking news on incoming tweets. As far as outgoing tweets, I hope it humanizes me as a normal person with a personality and a sense of humor, not a starched-shirt politician. 

Q: Example of a “best” Twitter moment?
 
A: During the Joplin tornado I was able to give out real-time helpful information from on the ground for a full eight days. I was able to tell people where to go for information and where they might donate or volunteer. 
 
Q: Example of a “worst” Twitter moment?
 
A: It’s when I think I’m texting family or friends but actually I’m tweeting all of my followers. [E.g.,] “We’re going to the movie ‘Iron Lady’ at 1:20, do you want to go?”
