Sen. Rubio hypes rapper Pitbull

{mosads}ABC’s New Year’s special, hosted this year by Ryan Seacrest, will be headlined by Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen and Neon Trees in Times Square, and Fergie, Brandy, Flo Rida, Karmin, OneRepublic and Pitbull on the West Coast.

The hashtags Mr. Worldwide and Dale are both references to Pitbull songs and undeniable proof that Rubio — who sends his own tweets — is familiar with the Cuban-American rapper’s oeuvre.

Rubio endorsed Pitbull’s talent last month after appearing to criticize the artist in an interview with GQ.

“[Pitbull’s] songs are all party songs. There’s no message for him, compared to like an Eminem,” Rubio told GQ.

He later corrected the impression that he does not like Pitbull’s music, firing off several tweets reviewing Pitbull’s style.

Rubio owned up to his Twitter pre-occupation with music elsewhere on Wednesday, also confirming he sends all his own tweets.

“No one has never sent a tweet on my behalf,” he said Wednesday morning at a breakfast hosted by Politico. “I control my own Twitter feed because it’s authentic and it’s real and it’s largely about sports and hip-hop songs.”

He also commented that the Republican Party needs to make a more aggressive investment in technology before the next election.

“Whoever has the high ground on technology is going to win … it’s just a fact,” he said. “One lesson [from the election] is that, you want to make sure that from the technological perspective, you want to make sure that you are state of the art in communicating your message to people and identifying people that support you and ensuring that supporters are voters.”
