{mosads}The petition simply asks that the White House require the Senate to pass a budget for the current fiscal year. Republicans often rail against the fact that the Senate has not passed a budget resolution, a blueprint for the federal spending represented by appropriations bills, since April 2009.
Launched on Wednesday, the petition currently has about 500 signatures. The White House has promised to respond to any petition on its We the People site that achieves more than 25,000 within 30 days.
The petition site has been employed for both practical requests and practical jokes since being launched in September 2011.
