And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) tweeted later on in the game that he hoped 2013 would be an “MVP season” for Harper. Harper, who is 20 years old, won the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year award.
Can’t believe fellow Nevadan @bharper3407 made an out. He’s slumping! Sincerely hoping this is the start of an MVP season.

Elsewhere on opening day, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) struck what could be a pessimistic note for Red Sox fans.
In case it doesn’t happen again this season, I will note the Red Sox start today in first place. #OpeningDay
