Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday blasted the White House Correspondents Association dinner, calling it a “pathetic” party for “assclowns.”
Palin tweeted her criticism of the annual event, which attracts Washington’s media elite and stars from the entertainment world.
“Yuk it up media and pols. While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves,” Palin added in a Facebook post. “No need for that, we get the real joke.”
The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee has never attended the dinner, but has been a guest at parties in 2011.
{mosads}Palin, who served as a Fox News contributor, split from the network earlier this year, but has said she intends to remain in the political spotlight.
“I know the country needs more truth-telling in the media, and I’m willing to do that,” Palin had said, saying she believed the 2014 elections would see a conservative resurgence.
Earlier this month, Palin vowed to use her political action committee to oppose any lawmakers who supported a bipartisan bill to expand background checks.
