White House celebrates Star Wars Day on Twitter

{mosads}The picture of the president is from a 2009 rally in support of Chicago’s Olympics bid on the White House lawn. Obama greeted American athletes and pretended to fence using the toy.

The White House also linked to its official response to a White House petition urging the government to immediately begin work on a Death Star modeled on the moon-sized space station from the movies.

In the response, science and technology adviser Paul Shawcross says that the project’s estimated $850 quadrillion cost was too high.

Moreover, Shawcross quipped, “Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?”
