House Republicans compare government regulations to weight of NFL players

{mosads}
Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) tweeted, “2011 #regs are heavy, literally. 72,820 pages = 725 lbs = 3 @49ers Linebackers. We need the #REINS Act http://t.co/uiETdnnR”

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) tweeted out a similar message, substituting Wisconsin’s Green Bay Packers for the 49ers.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) used her home team the Seahawks, and Rep. Bob Gibbs gave a shout out to the Cleveland Browns.

The Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act would give Congress the final say in regulating companies. Republicans believe that currently the executive branch holds too much power in regulating companies.
