Condoleezza Rice debuts on Twitter

{mosads}In her second tweet Thursday, Rice strayed away from self-promotion and touted her hometown’s top ranking by America’s Promise: “Congrats to my hometown of Birmingham [Ala.] for being named by America’s Promise as one of the Top 100 Best Communities for Young People!”

Rice kept a fairly low profile after leaving office in 2009, only recently returning to the public sphere with the impending publication
of her book.

The State Department began to emphasize social media outreach after Rice left office. Earlier this year, the agency shifted digital resources  away from traditional static websites in favor of interactive resources such as Twitter and Facebook.
