Democrat objects to weeklong recess
{mosads}The House has spent two weeks in session since the last weeklong recess ended Sept. 30. The chamber has had seven previous constituent work weeks in the 112th Congress, excluding its month-long August recess and two-week spring recess in April.
McGovern also expressed frustration with the legislative business being debated Friday, which he said didn’t include job creation.
“Let me reiterate: Before going on a week recess, we are debating Coal Ash, NOT jobs for Americans Nationwide,” McGovern tweeted. He marked it with the hastag: #Unbelievable.
Earlier Friday, the House voted on a rule to debate the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act, which would allow states, rather than the Environmental Protection Agency, to regulate residue from burning coal.
