One of President Obama’s former top advisers, David Plouffe, on Monday mocked critics who accuse the president of being a socialist.
In a tweet Monday, Plouffe trumpeted the record high reached Monday by the Dow Jones industrial average. The stock market soared above 16,000 for the first time, almost 10,000 points higher than the 6,443 low it hit in March 2009 shortly after Obama took office.
The market’s surge indicates the economy is gradually improving.
{mosads}Plouffe served as Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, and worked as a senior adviser at the White House during part of the president’s first term.
He now works as an analyst at Bloomberg News.
