Leaders battle over Twitter on House stalemate

House leaders Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner exchanged barbs Wednesday about how productive the House has been this year.

Earlier Wednesday, Boehner (R-Ohio) defended the legislative record of the House, saying it passed nearly 150 bills aimed at boosting job creation.

{mosads}The Speaker blamed Senate Democrats for blocking progress on the bills.

Pelosi (D-Calif.), the House minority leader, quickly tweeted back.

Boehner then doubled down in his response.

Pelosi on Tuesday had tweeted at the Speaker that “we’ve done our work.”

House Democrats have pointed to a few bipartisan measures the Senate has passed that Boehner refuses to take up, such as immigration reform.

U.S. News and World Report recently noted that the “do-nothing” Congress in 1947 and 1948 passed 900 bills, while the current Congress has only turned 52 bills into law so far.
