Senator urges return to Gang of Six talks

{mosads}The bipartisan group sought to negotiate a package of spending cuts and tax reforms earlier this year, prior to the appointment of the supercommittee.

The 12-member supercommittee was tasked with negotiating at least $1.2 trillion in spending cuts by Nov. 23. Negotiations appeared to grind to a halt over the weekend, leading Warner to comment at a speech on Monday that if the “fat lady … is not singing, she’s at least warming up.”

Failure by the supercommittee would trigger $1.2 trillion in automatic cuts scheduled to go into effect in 2013.
