Rep. Speier: Lawmakers who lie about O-Care should wear ‘Pinocchio noses’

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) said Wednesday lawmakers should wear Pinocchio noses if they lie about ObamaCare.

The Democrat said she wanted to share this “fantasy” on Twitter.

She tweeted a similar statement in which she linked to The Washington Post’s piece that fact-checked statements about the Congressional Budget Office’s report on Tuesday.

The Post’s fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, rates the accuracy of claims made by those in politics using Pinocchio noses.

Kessler explained in his column Tuesday that the CBO’s report did not say ObamaCare would kill jobs. A number of Republicans, however, interpreted the report in that way.

Instead, Kessler explained the report predicts the healthcare law might change how people choose to participate in the work force. For those who get that wrong, he said he award them three Pinocchios.

Speier serves as the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform’s subcommittee on Energy Policy, Healthcare and Entitlements.
