GOP Rep. Griffin wants jobs, not hoagies from Obama

{mosads}Obama bought “an assortment of sandwiches” from Taylor Gourmet, an Italian deli in the Washington, D.C., area, for a meeting with congressional leaders on Wednesday. During the meeting, Obama discussed fiscal policy issues, among other topics that have been fraught with controversy between Obama and House Republicans.

Obama and the congressional leaders who attended the private lunch seemed to enjoy the sandwiches, even if Griffin’s opinion is that Obama needed to bring something besides deli meat to the table.

An aide from Speaker John Boehner’s office said following the meeting that he “was very pleased with the sandwiches served.”

And White House Press Secretary Jay Carney mentioned the food in his take on the meeting following a conversation with the president.

“My sense was the tone was congenial, the discussion was productive, the sandwiches were delicious,” Carney said in his daily briefing.

Details about what Boehner and the other leaders ate were unavailable, but the president ordered as his own sandwich a 12-inch Spruce Street hoagie, which has roast turkey, prosciutto, roasted red peppers and sharp provolone, according to the White House pool report.
