Possible VP candidate Rubio promotes new Romney VP app
{mosads}Rubio, as well as another Romney surrogate in Congress, Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.), urged Twitter followers to download the app on Tuesday in order to be the “first” to hear Romney’s VP choice. Because their tweets were nearly identical, it’s likely that they are following the Romney campaign’s lead in pushing the app to supporters.
But it would not be the first time that the campaign used Twitter to tease supporters about Romney’s choice.
Last Friday, Beth Myers, the Romney aide in charge of the VP vetting process, tweeted a list of names to follow on Twitter that was identical to those most likely on the short list of candidates.
Names included Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.).
