Sen. Grassley hits voting milestone
{mosads}According to Grassley’s office, only 23 senators in history have cast more votes than Grassley. Grassley has been a member of the Senate since 1981.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), in congratulating Grassley on the accomplishment on the floor of the Senate, even referred to the Iowa senator’s Twitter account.
“And of course, we’re all familiar with his tweets,” McConnell said. “Much like the senator himself, they are truly one of a kind.”
Grassley, who sends his own tweets, is known for his unique abbreviations.
“This isn’t just tweeting. This is avant-garde, stream of consciousness poetry. It’s Jack Kerouac typing On the Road with his thumbs!” Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert said of Grassley’s Twitter account earlier this year.
Senate colleagues Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) congratulated Grassley via tweets.
