Pelosi, Democrats settle World Series bet
{mosads}In October, Pelosi and several other House Democrats agreed to a friendly bet on the outcome of the 2012 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers. Pelosi wagered chocolates from Ghirardelli, TCHO and See’s Candies against a variety of Michigan goods promised by four Michigan Democrats: Reps. John Dingell, John Conyers, Sandy Levin and Hansen Clarke.
Levin, in his tweet, predicted a rematch next baseball season.
The senators of California — Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, both Democrats — made their own friendly wager against the Democratic senators of Michigan — Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow — also wagering Ghirardelli chocolates against chocolates and local Michigan wine.
The Giants won, but Pelosi paid out in Ghirardelli chocolate anyway. Ghirardelli chocolates are Pelosi’s go-to wager; she also used them to bet for the Giants in the 2010 World Series. Pelosi is a noted chocolate fan and Ghirardelli is based in the Bay area.
