College football rivalry weekend draws lawmakers to Twitter
With Americans tuned in to a weekend of some of college football’s most intense rivalries, lawmakers Saturday tweeted their excitement for a slate of top match ups.
Some lawmakers, like Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), kept their comments neutral for intrastate rivalry games, like the showdown between the Indiana Hooisers and Purdue Boilermakers.

{mosads}Rep. James Forbes (R-Va.) and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) adopted a similarly neutral tone for the Commonwealth Cup showdown between the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.

But politicians in Florida seemed a bit more willing to take sides, with unlikely allies Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) both expressing support for their Florida Gators in a top-10 showdown with the Florida State Seminoles. Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) went as far as to pick an 11-point Florida win.

In South Carolina, Rep. Jeff Duncan (R) also went out on a limb, cheering for Clemson in their cross-state rivalry game with South Carolina.

Other legislators, like Rep. Illeana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) were spared from having to decide between schools that were likely to split their constituents.
