Rep. Waters wishes Nelson Mandela a ‘speedy recovery’

{mosads}He is receiving treatment in a hospital in Pretoria and “responding to the treatment,” according to the latest update from South African President Jacob Zuma.

Mandela’s anti-apartheid activism, a political milestone of the 20th century, was celebrated last summer by first lady Michelle Obama and the Obama daughters during a visit to Mandela’s home.

Then-Sen. Barack Obama met Mandela in 2005 and sent him a photograph from the meeting, inscribed “To Nelson Mandela — an inspiration to us all.” The photograph reportedly sits on Mandela’s desk.
